Laurie's Swim Meets

Laurie was so funny before her first swim meet. She relaxed with Brittany, ate some pasta - washing it down with Gatorade and sneaking some candy in between movies and napping. She was also very concerned about which colored ribbon to get. At first she wanted pink because it was her favorite color. But after giving it a lot of thought, she asked me, "Mom - what color lets you be the line leader? Because that is the color I want to get!" So, I had to break the sad news to her that line leaders received blue ribbons - not her favorite - pink! You can see what she has to say on her video we took before the meet began.

A special thanks goes out to her big sister, Brittany, for all the work and support she has given to Laurie. Laurie could not have done it without all her early morning efforts! Thanks Brittany!!!

A year later - Laurie still wants to be the winner. However, on her first medly race, she accidentally swam a 50 instead of a 25 and changed out her white (3rd place) ribbon for a pink (4th place) one. Then, she was absolutely thrilled to get a green (6th place) one! Tonight, Laurie swam in a race and they came in 3rd place. She told the place judge that she could not have a white and needed a blue ribbon - so that is what she brought home! Then, in her other race, she came in 6th place, but demanded a red (2nd place) ribbon. What a stinker. Of course, when I told her I was going to throw a shark in the pool, she told me that I would be making her cheat. Then, she would be the loser! Funny gal!
